Start the Halloween season early at the Waikīkī Aquarium’s Members’ Night on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. This year’s theme is Hide ‘N Seek which features the Aquarium’s masters of disguise: Octo-Boo, Witch-Crab, and Masquer-Fish.

This family-friendly seasonal celebration will include spooktacular games, educational activities in the classroom, a scavenger hunt throughout the galleries, fun-filled booths, a Halloween costume contest, a mermaid photo opp, underwater pumpkin carving, and delicious food and drinks from local vendors like Simply Ono, Local Poke Bowl, and Il Gelato.

Highlights of the activity-filled evening include:

  • 4:30 p.m. FOWA Annual Meeting (In Classroom)
  • 5:00 p.m. Doors Open; Activities Begin
  • 5:30 p.m. Under the Sea Pumpkin Carving
  • 6:30 p.m. Halloween Costume Contest
  • 8:00 p.m. Pau

This event is open to the public. Activities will include:

Hide & Seek on the Hawaiian Reef: Calling all seekers! Guests can see if they can spot the mamo hidden in a school of manini. Is that a pipefish or a coronetfish swimming by? Is there a sneaky flounder camouflaged on the sandy sea floor? Dive in—all ages are welcome to join the fun and explore the Hawaiian reef…in the classroom!

Under the Sea Pumpkin Carving: Visit our friends in the shark tank for a festive pumpkin carving with our special guest divers.

Treasure Hunt: There’s treasure to be found! Keiki and their families can find the hidden treasures throughout the Aquarium, uncovering surprises and delights at every turn.

Monster Match: Watch out! Monsters have appeared at the Aquarium. Join the fun to catch them and match them!

Anemone Toss: Test your aim and accuracy as you toss colorful balls into their matching anemones.

Halloween Costume Contest: At 6:30 p.m., keiki dressed in their Halloween best will have a chance to walk the stage and win some fa-boo-lous prizes.

  • Three additional winners will be selected from the overall field: Best Ocean Inspired Costume, Best Hide N’ Seek Theme Costume, and Best Overall Costume.

Admission to the event will be:

  • FOWA Members: $15 for adults / $5 for children (ages 4-12)
  • Non-Members: $20 for adults / $10 for children (ages 4-12)
  • Children 3 and under: FREE
